Environmental Sustainability in Cameroon: Protecting the Home We All Share

Cameroon is beautiful. From our forests and rivers to our farms and mountains, nature is part of who we are. It feeds us, supports our communities, and gives life to millions of people every day. But today, that environment is under pressure.

Across the country, we are seeing more pollution, deforestation, flooding, and changing weather patterns. Farmers struggle with unpredictable seasons, plastic waste fills our streets and drainage systems, and many communities are feeling the real impact of climate change. Environmental sustainability is no longer just a global issue , it is something affecting our everyday lives here in Cameroon.

But there is still hope. More young people and local communities are stepping up to protect the environment through clean-up campaigns, tree planting, climate education, sustainable farming, and advocacy. These small actions may seem simple, but together they create real change.

Environmental sustainability is about caring for the resources we have today so future generations can also enjoy them tomorrow. It is about protecting our forests, reducing waste, promoting clean energy, and building communities that are healthier and more resilient.

The future of Cameroon depends on the choices we make now. Government, communities, organizations, and young people all have a role to play. When we protect the environment, we are also protecting our health, food systems, livelihoods, and future.

A greener and more sustainable Cameroon is possible and it starts with all of us.
C4GSS is championing sustainability across the country but all hands are required for greater impacts.
