In many rural communities across Cameroon, young people and women play a vital role in agriculture and food production, yet they are often excluded from the conversations and decisions that shape their future. Many also have limited access to practical training, mentorship, and opportunities to develop the green skills needed to improve their livelihoods and respond to the growing impacts of climate change. Access to knowledge on renewable energy, sustainable technologies, and opportunities emerging from the green transition also remains limited, despite their potential to transform rural livelihoods, strengthen food systems, and build resilient communities. The Green Youth Hub was created to change this reality.

Through interactive workshops, peer learning, mentorship, and community engagement, participants gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in:

Sustainable and climate-smart agriculture
Indigenous food transformation and preservation
Sustainable food systems and nutrition
Climate action and climate resilience
Biodiversity conservation
Renewable energy and clean energy solutions

The Hub gives young people and women a platform to share their experiences, amplify their voices, and participate in shaping local food systems and community development. Participants are encouraged to identify challenges within their communities, develop practical solutions, and utilise opportunities created by the green transition to strengthen sustainable food systems, improve food security, promote renewable energy adoption, protect biodiversity, create sustainable livelihoods, and build resilience to climate change.

By connecting agriculture, renewable energy, the green transition, economic well-being, health, and environmental sustainability, the initiative is helping build a new generation of informed, confident, and purpose-driven leaders who are driving change from the grassroots.

To date, the Hub has grown into a vibrant network of 56 young people and women from eight rural communities, creating opportunities for learning, collaboration, mentorship, and collective action. As the network continues to grow, so does its impact, strengthening local food systems, promoting renewable energy and green innovations, and ensuring that rural and underrepresented voices are at the heart of Cameroon's journey towards a more resilient, food-secure, and sustainable future.
